2000 - PSINet Hong Kong Limited, a subsidiary
of the Internet Super Carrier PSINet Inc., announced
that it will exhibit "PSINet's .com World"
at the HKIIExpo at booth A8 and will unveil its investment
and network infrastructure plan at booth M2, subject
to the award of both the Local Wireless & External
Fixed Telecommunications Network Services Licences.
Being appointed as the "Official ISP" for
the exhibition, PSINet Hong Kong will not only sponsor
Internet access to more than a hundred of exhibitors
on site, but also will bring in with lots of surprises.
At booth A8 “PSINet's .com World”, some of the most
leading and popular local portal sites will be shown,
each demonstrating a unique concept with distinctive
style, features and characteristics. They include kingcomics.com,
with contents on comics; taifook.com, with contents
on on-line stock trading; show8.com, with contents on
infotainment; midland.com.hk, with contents on property;
hkevent.net, with contents on performing arts and entertainment;
chinesebooks.com, with contents on the sale of books
and music; carnet.com.hk, with contents on car-related
issues; tourbuffet.com, with contents on travelling;
and pandaplanet.com, with contents on career advancement.
Moreover, PSINet has invited its business partners,
vendors and .com companies to organize a host of activities
at the booth, such as informative seminars on e-payment
solution, entertaining show on music and magic, and
chat sessions with artists.
To all the above high trafficked, mission-critical
portal sites, a strong and reliable ISP is indispensable
and PSINet is striving to support and provide the necessary
backbone network and Internet solutions. At booth M2,
demonstration will be divided into three zones, namely
“The Network Infrastructure Zone”, “The Cyber Economy
Zone” and “The Global Hosting Center Zone”. At “The
Network Infrastructure Zone”, PSINet will present to
you a complete picture of its network infrastructure
around the globe as well as its most advanced Internet
technologies. At “The Cyber Economy Zone”, PSINet will
portrait how technology will transform our economy into
a “Cyber Economy”. Also the different applications on
wireless technology will be demonstrated, namely e-commerce,
video on-demand, broadband Internet access, multimedia
applications etc. At “The Global Hosting Center Zone”,
a PSINet Global Hosting Center concept model will be
displayed. PSINet global hosting center is a global
e-commerce and multimedia center for local and international
businesses that enables corporations to house business-critical
Internet servers off-site for superior bandwidth management
and connections. At the same time, a simulated Internet
hosting center will also be exhibited to give visitors
a real experience on how this state-of-the-art center
works.
Next to the crowded exhibition hall will house all
the Expo-related conferences and symposiums, which will
present the latest Internet information, tailor-made
for corporate executives, industry leaders and senior
officials to explore emerging opportunities in the new
millennium. PSINet’s Vice Chairman and Executive Vice
President, Mr David Kunkel, from its US Headquarters
has been invited to be the keynote speaker addressing
on "E-commerce in the 21st Century” at the International

Aligning with the theme “PSINet’s .com World”, PSINet
will host a free symposium on a controversial topic
"Analyzing the return on investment in building
up a portal site in Hong Kong". Various “star of
the stars” speakers from leading portal sites belonging
to different industries will be invited to have an interactive
discussion on the topic. They include Mr. William Kwan,
President of PSINet; Mr. Wong Yuk Long, Chairman of
Jade Dynasty Publications Ltd; Ms. Cha Siu Yan, Director
of Show 8 Cyber Media; Mr. Chan Wing Luk, Group Deputy
